David begins the Frugal Bond series again with Old Navy. This time he is dropped into the store unrehearsed and makes his way around, trying to cobble together Bond clothes that are a bargain!

Thank you for the video David 🙂

Charles Tyrwhitt has a tab-collar, French cuff dress shirt for only $69– I’d be much more comfortable jumping around trains and such than in a $300+ Tom Ford!

Nice fines thanks for posting that video. I think I’m going down to Old Navy.

  5. Brandon says:

Old Navy is my personal favourite Frugal Bond store! I own several of the items featured in the video, and they look great! I’ve also found budget alternatives for the QoS shawl cardigan, Skyfall N. Peal sweater, & Skyfall Barbour jacket at ON.

  6. Nice finds! I’m always checking the sales/clearance at old navy and the gap and it’s surprising how many things you can squint and see Bond in. Keep up the great videos!

Hi David – Love the videos for the Frugal Bond. When one looks at James Bond, his clothes are actually quite “boring” from a design viewpoint, since the look tends to emphasize solid neutral colors and basic, classic clothes. For example, Bond sports a polo shirt and khakis in Casino Royale, which is essentially the uniform for Best Buy and Target store associates. Where the Bond wardrobe excels is in the fit of the clothes. I believe the way the clothes are altered is what transforms a polo shirt and khakis look that is sported by your local big box store associates to an ensemble suitable for an international super spy. I suggest you produce a video where you buy some basic Bond styled clothes from Banana Republic, Gap, Old Navy, Macys, Zara, H&M, Target, etc. and have them altered to show how dramatic a difference the fit will make. Albeit, tailoring can be expensive, but many dry cleaners will shorten polo shirts, take in pants, hem pants, etc. for fairly nominal sums and can transform frugal basics into their designer counterparts.
