My Night as James Bond at the Presidents Ball

February 12, 2014 with 17 comments

Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan hosts an annual Presidents Ball, in which we celebrate our schools excellence and honor those involved. The chosen theme this year was 007. When I first heard of this I was ecstatic, I am a major James Bond/Daniel Craig fan so I knew that this event was perfect for me.

I began by going to a local barbershop for men and requesting The Daniel Craig as advised by David Zaritsky in his YouTube series. The style looked great so next I purchased my very first tuxedo, I went with, The Ultimate Secret Agent Package from My Tuxedo Direct, the brand of the Tuxedo is Alexander Dobell, it came in a great package with everything you need and the customer service is phenomenal, it fits into the frugal Bond lifestyle at just over $100 for the whole package and it is supported by the 007 brand!…

My New Casino Royale Workout

January 27, 2014 with 7 comments

Greetings to all of the followers of the Bond Experience from your fitness/fashion model Thomas Newhard. Now that the holidays have came to a close, I’m sure most are now looking forward to the warmer months of spring and summer.

I wrote almost a year ago about my first James Bond workout and how to obtain that lean muscular look just as Daniel Craig managed to do throughout his series of Bond movies. It takes a lot of dedication and effort to do the schedule I had originally wrote up for fellow fans.

In an effort to make it more suitable for the working men and women of the world who cannot live in the gym while having to be at work on an 8 hour day/night or more, I have spent much time coming up with a few different variations.…

Meeting Jaws and Pussy Galore

December 28, 2013 with 2 comments

Recently my wife entered a competition for the chance to meet Richard Kiel and Honour Blackman (aka Jaws and Pussy Galore) at the Bond in Motion exhibition at the national motor museum Beaulieu. Amazingly we won and on the appointed day we found ourselves and another lucky winner waiting for a VIP meeting with the stars. We were lucky enough to have about 15 minutes with them just talking and having our photos taken with them.

Richard is a lovely person and talked with my two young daughters about his part in their favorite kids animation Tangled, giving them both a signed still from the film.…

Commander B Jacket: My First Look and Review

November 12, 2013 with 15 comments

Like many Bond fans I’ve been looking for the original Skyfall Scotland jacket for the better part of the last year. After searching for and reading about sizes, costs and availability I had resigned myself to not being able to secure the jacket. Then, the Commander B version came out. Most of your followers now know that this version is nearly identical but with new branding and sans detachable hood. Still, same great material and styling. I decided to get it and completed the purchase from End Clothing.

Many eBay sellers mentioned to “size up.” I normally very comfortably wear a Large, mainly due to upper body and shoulders, and often I deal with a slightly baggy middle.…

Don’t Rock the (Quantum of Solace) Boat

September 12, 2013 with 6 comments

Kev Johnson

Recently my wife and I visited the New Forest National Park, situated on the south coast of England. We stayed at The Master Builders house hotel for several nights which overlooks a tributary of the River Solent. The rear enjoys beautiful views and at the bottom of hotel grounds is a gate which leads to the marina.

We took our dog max and in the morning would take him immediately outside the gate past an old boat that for all intents and purposes appeared to have been the victim of bad weather and been stranded on the bank side.…

Bigger Than Bond

July 19, 2013 with 4 comments

Since I was a kid, I have always dreamed of being James Bond. When my friends and I had water gun fights I was the kid wearing my dads old suit coat with the water pistol tucked safely under my armpit like I had seen Bond do during the TNT Bondathon weekend.

As I got older, I read all the original Ian Fleming novels, watched the movies religiously and started quoting the movies in every instance I could make fit; shockingpositively shocking from Goldfinger was my favourite. When I was in university I started going to various forums and websites that reported news about the the newest Bond film which at the time was Casino Royale.…

Bond Goes to the Prom

July 10, 2013 with 3 comments

Steve

It was 3pm and i was at work when the phone rang. It was my oldest son. “Dad, my buddies and I are going out tonight to pick out our tuxedos for prom. What should I get?”

I simply told my son to take Casino Royale off the shelf and watch the poker scene toward the end of the movie. After he watched Bond in action he was still hesitant, but I was able to convince him that the traditional black tuxedo was the way to go.

Almost all his friends chose white of a flashy color, but I think you’ll agree he looks pretty sharp.…

My 1st Vesper Drink

June 27, 2013 with 2 comments

Alex

Three measures of Gordon’s, one of vodka, half a measure of Kina Lillet.

Shake it very well until it’s ice-cold, then add a large thin slice of lemon peel.

There you go, The Vesper.

Put on my black suits, strip tie, ST DuPont cufflinks and white long sleeve shirt.

Headed down to City Space Bar located at Swissotel The Stamford.

Sat in front of the window to enjoy the city view, ordered The Vesper and made a song request “Skyfall by Adele”.

The drink finally arrived.

Could smell the strong Gin’s scent.

Took a sip and savoured the drink.

Bitter after taste.…

Ed Maggiani

Yes, you read that correctly…THE original, screen-worn Breitling Top Time Geiger counter watch worn by Sean Connery in Thunderball has surfaced!!!!!! Ill let my good friend, Brian Vinciguerra, tell you the story of how he was instrumental in this discovery. I am privileged to have been marginally connected to this AMAZING find. I also want to thank Pete Harrison of ABSOLUTELY JAMES BOND Forum for his assistance. —Ed Maggiani

As some might remember, I had posted a thread about recreating the Geiger counter watch from Thunderball. Have no fear, this is going to be a realityand sooner rather then later.…

Attending the SkyFall Premiere

May 7, 2013 with 3 comments

Chris

A little bit of Londons Red Carpet Magic made its way up to the Midlands on Thursday 25 October when a Regional Premier for Skyfall took place at the Odeon Cinema in Nuneaton.

Johnsons Jewellers of Nuneaton arranged the black-tie event to raise money for The Mary Ann Evans Hospice which works in the town to provide day care, hospice at home services lymphodema care and bereavement support.

Bond fans hungry to see the film a day before its general release had two ticket options to choose from – a Gold Ticket which included a meal at Frankie and Bennies and a Silver Ticket which was just for the showing of the movie.…
