The Moonraker Skydive

February 7, 2013 with 1 comments

Allard Geerlings

In 2010 I made five jumps from 4.00 feet to get my militairy wing.

During four of this jumps I got a twist what means I have to keep cool in the air while take the twist out and in one jump I had to make an emergency landing between the cows.

During my jumps I feel like an secret agent who has to keep cool to survive in the air like Roger Moore in Moonraker.

Making My Own James Bond Movie

February 5, 2013 with 1 comments

Adam Guest

Back in August 2012, I was given an assignment!

I had recently broken up with my girlfriend, had made a commitment to become a professional actor and having a generally difficult struggle when it came to ‘my next mission’. That was until a friend of mine, who supported my move to becoming an actor, came to my aid.

“Why don’t you do an evening, much like the old ‘An Audience With…’ famous celebrities and do it as a motivational springboard?” he said. “Don’t be ridiculous!” I replied. “I’m not famous yet. Who would want to come and see me?”

“Ask, and find out.” came his response.…

Finally…My Billy Reid Peacoat is Here!

January 31, 2013 with 17 comments

Neil Hatt

Thanks to this great website, I was able to find and order my Billy Reid peacoat. On backorder, it has taken around a month and a half to arrive – and has been more than worth the wait!

The Billy Reid Peacoat

Worn for the first time yesterday, I found myself walking a little bit taller and straighter – it’s amazing the confidence boost a coat can give you – but then as it makes you feel like Bond, I guess it’s not all that surprising.

This will be perfect for my upcoming weekend in Berlin (wife’s birthday). Where better to wear this beautiful coat (other than Shanghai of course!) than somewhere that still has such visible echoes of the cold war?…

Searching for an Armorer and Finding Much More

January 28, 2013 with 4 comments

Jay Sadowski

It’s funny how after reading all the Bond books and seeing all the movies how certain things seem to relate to them. I’m not really sure if this is a Bond Experience per say, but it sure felt like it to me!

I needed to have my Walther PPK coded to my palm print so only I could fire it… or was it the slide stop that needed fixing? Either way it was something I didn’t know how to do.

I used my smart phone to search out an armorer. I found the closest was about 30 min. away.…

Even Bond Needs a Safe House

January 24, 2013 with 2 comments

Dan Longoria

Many years ago when I worked as a bartending magician at this little bar in Berwyn, I use to do this one little trick which required a card to be marked by the person I was doing the trick for (always a woman). My line was “I need you to mark your card with this pen, so you know it is your card…put your name, address, phone number, whatever you wish”.

Using that line I put it in the woman’s hands as to whether or not she’d be interested in going out.

Does this look like a Safe House?…

In Search of a Tom Ford Suit

January 21, 2013 with 4 comments

006

Earlier this year I made the biggest clothing investment of my life: a Tom Ford suit. But not any old Tom Ford suit, I wanted the brown QOS Bolivia suit. Some of you have seen my collection and my photos of the suit on ajb007.co.uk.

I wanted to let you into a story of how the suit came about.

I went to Tom Ford and inquired about getting the suit on a made-to- measure basis. I assumed that the fabric would be part of the range and it would be a simple matter of picking the colour, picking the style and hey presto!…

How My Bond Experience Changed My Life

January 17, 2013 with 6 comments

Barn Cronen

My Bond experience isn’t necessarily the coolest of stories or breath taken adventure. In a sense, it’s how I got MY 007 licence.

Since I can remember, I have been a Bond fan. It has always been a key feature in my life and I was one of the Bond kids to grow up with Mr Pierce Brosnan as 007; so for me he was the best Bond.

So when Brosnan left, I was sad (and young) but found myself sitting on the fence when Daniel Craig was announced. I was 15 at that point and figured I could guess the formula of Bond films thus never felt the need to judge ‘Blond Bond’.…

James Bond Goes to Italy

January 14, 2013 with 1 comments

Fifty years after the first film about the secret agent whose name is Bond…James Bond, it is time to travel through Italy (150 years old), remembering the places and characters from his adventures.

I wrote the book “Dall’Italia con amore – Guida alle location di James Bond in Italia”: a guide to the Italian Bond locations, and also an opportunity to meet curious characters related to the world of the secret agent, like Jeffery Deaver, Raymond Benson, Sebastian Faulks, Andrea Carlo Cappi, Edward Coffrini dell’Orto and Caterina Murino.

The guide, offering anecdotes and adventures, takes us on a journey that goes from Venice to Cortina d’Ampezzo, Lake Garda to Mantua, from Rome to Milan, Lake Como to Siena, to finish in Sardinia.…

What a Year to be a Bond Fan

January 10, 2013 with 0 comments

Barry King

What a stretch it has been for a die-hard Bond fan for the past…ohh let’s say few years.

Starting with Designing 007 in the early summer at the Barbican and that early morning Vesper in the Martini bar…through to Bond in Motion in October…culminating on Friday evening with the James Bond 50th Anniversary Gala at the Royal Festival Hall introduced by the ever lovely Honor Blackman.

And its surprising where a dinner suit (tuxedo) can lead you.

What a 50th Anniversary year it has been for 007…could not quite bag premiere tickets for SkyFall, but still got to see it in its first week of release

Skyfall or Casino Royale…still not sure??…

My Quantum of Solace Haircut

January 8, 2013 with 6 comments

Allan

Having seen David Zaritsky’s Bond video on how to obtain a proper “Bond” haircut, and after trying and failing locally to get someone, ANYONE, to cut/style my hair into something similar to the well coiffed hairstyle Mr. Craig sports in Quantum of Solace, I made an appointment to see “JOHN” of John’s Barber Shop in beautiful and quiet Newtown, Pennsylvania.

John is a popular guy, made more so no doubt by his exposure via Dave Zaritsky’s Bond Experience website.

Not dissuaded by his popularity, I made an appointment and also discussed with him what I am looking for.

John was very accommodating and said he would research “the look” to be prepared for when I arrived.…
