One of the most exciting things about Bond lifestyles and experiences is learning a new talent and putting it to use. This past fall I did just that. I decided it was time to learn how to scuba dive. I’ve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive because I am a photographer and videographer, and because it was something I was dreaming of doing after watching Thunderball and 20,000 league Under the Sea as a child.
After earning my PADI certification this past October I went to Isla Mujeres, Mexico for Thanksgiving. While this is not a Bond location it was a “Bond Experience” for me because I totally felt out of my element.
Having new experiences and trying all the things the locals enjoyed doing was a life changing experience while I was on vacation and I will always do exactly that from now on whenever I travel.
So all in all I learned 2 things on this past trip. One…make sure to try the local delicacies (even if you do not think you will like them, you will be surprised.) I learned I love the taste of conch. And two…always appreciate what you have. You might not know how much you have until you meet others less fortunate than yourself.
I attached some photos from my trip for you to see. One is of my diving experience, one is of my conch lunch and the last was of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.
Why am I in 24 degree weather???? Arrrgh!
What a great story thanks for sharing.
I also had a Bond experience last year when I was SCUBA certified. I thought about writing about it as well but you beat me to it! Congratulations, it’s a great hobby, like living a piece of Thunderball in your daily life!
I also scuba dived in thassos Greece for the first time in 2009. With Bond tunes going through my head the whole time I was underwater!
For me the Bond experience can really be set whilst on holiday. Wether it be strolling out of the sea in blue swim shorts or strolling around town with the white jeans and navy polo!
Wow, that sunset looks like an ending to a Bond movie!
