Having spent most of my life in South Florida it was not uncommon for me to see exotic cars on the streets. Unfortunately, of all the vehicles I had seen I had never had the opportunity to see an Aston Martin DB5 up close. This has always been a dream of mine, a dream which was realized just a few weeks ago at the Dezer James Bond Car Collection in Miami.
Walking into the massive exhibit area, I could not help but notice that due to me going on a weekday, I was alone and it was going to be a private tour. As I made my way inside Duran Duran’s A View to a Kill played and enhanced my experience. The first and most iconic item of the collection which you could not miss was Goldfinger’s Lockheed Jetstar. I had arrived and my Bond experience was about to begin.
The exhibit featured James Bond cars from every 007 movie, Dr. No to Quantum of Solace. Having broken down the exhibits by movie allowed a guest to walk their way one movie at a time which made me excited to know that Goldfinger and the DB5 was just around the next bend.
As I turned the corner the silver beauty sat ready to be driven, machine guns and bullet proof screen exposed. I placed my hand on the hood of the vehicle and instantly replayed parts of that famous movie in my mind. I began to take pictures wanting to record this moment which I had waited for so long for but was distracted for a moment as I saw the Thunderball Jet pack hanging off the ceiling. This was truly a walk through the history of 007.
Having had my moment I moved on through the exhibit coming across vehicles like the submarine lotus, Timothy Dalton’s rocket propelled Aston Martin and Goldeneye’s Tank driven by Pierce Brosnan. All in all, the museum was an amazing experience which I would recommend to all Bond fans.
