What’s My New Year’s Resolution?

December 31, 2012 with 4 comments

As we rapidly approach the New Year, my annual thought process around resolutions starts to enter into my mind. Usually they center on fitness and dedication to the job at hand etc., but this year my mind has wandered into Bond territory. Now, I have to admit Bond does not seem like the type of fellow who makes New Years resolutions; quite the opposite he seems to be made to BREAK them.

For me, it was important to look back at 2012 and see what I could improve upon when it comes to Bond. First of all, there is the physical component of Bond in the form of my exercise regimen.…

Bond Pleasures on Vacation

December 27, 2012 with 2 comments

I take great pleasure in beautiful things. This sentiment is especially lived while I am on vacation and in fact love to enjoy the Bond-like pleasures.

Spa

Treating yourself to a Shrublands-like moment can be a decadent treat. A vigorous massage in an amazing setting is very Bond. Bond lives as if he might die tomorrow and therefore lives life to the fullest. Although a Spa and their treatments might be a sizable expense, having someone focus on your well-being and comfort is very rewarding. Afterwards you will walk a little differently, a slight swagger to your step.

Pool side

Cucumber soaked cold clothes over the eyes, fruit filtered water, and a casual grotto swim all conjure up the fine life.…

Honey, I Got You a Bowling Ball

December 24, 2012 with 0 comments

I remember as a child watching an episode of the Flintstones where Fred buys Wilma a bowling ball for her birthday. I remember laughing at his excitement in purchasing it for her, and laughing even harder when she let him have it after receiving it.

Of course she didn’t like it, Fred! YOU like bowling, not Wilma. Wilma likes pearls and appliances made of talking elephants.

Of course, now I am old enough to appreciate these situations, I realize I myself have turned into Fred Flintstone; but instead of a bowling ball I use Bond girl accessories to become the butt of my own joke.…

Who We Influence

December 18, 2012 with 6 comments

From time to time I will receive emails from the younger generation mentioning how Bond is starting to influence their lives in a positive fashion. It never ceases to amaze me how put together some of the younger generation are. Case in point is this letter from a James Holley, who in a few years will be giving me a run for my money in living the Bond lifestyle.

Hey David,

Before I start, I just want to say that I absolutely love the new website. While I am hardly a closeted Bond fan, I love the idea of sharing bond moments between other like-minded people.…

Color Blind

December 10, 2012 with 9 comments

Colors. We are educated as a child to celebrate colors with their variety and expansive ways. In the advertising and marketing world, colors can create an array of emotions when combined with the right message and they can be either a strong inducer of thought or a dull moment created.

BUT never has there been more controversy, anxiety, and consternation than color questions of Bond clothing.

This rubbing of the noggin began way back in the Casino Royale days (remember those, young wiper snappers?) when groups of us purchased the Bahamas arrival Persols, in BLACK not brown. Well hell, we were going off of stills and blurry assumptions.…

Double Ho Ho Seven

December 5, 2012 with 21 comments

As many of you know, I do a James Bond gift video every year whereby I highlight items for the Bond fan that has everything…except family that knows what to get them. These have been fun and a bit tongue in cheek but I have been amazed how many people truly do sit their loved ones in front of the video and press play in hopes that more than sugar plumbs will be dancing in their heads.

But this is a year of major Bond moments, like the 50th Anniversary and a small movie called SkyFall, so the abundance of Bond products is dizzying.…

David the Tailor

December 3, 2012 with 11 comments

On any given day I receive around 5 emails asking for advice on how something should fit, or what size jacket someone should order, or if Dent gloves runs small etc. This may not surprise you, but the fact that I answer every one of these might. I feel a sense of obligation in the most positive way to answer these emails so other Bond fans can enjoy their purchases and not have anxiety over nasty surprises when they arrive.

After all, nothing takes the wind from ones sails like opening a package, trying on a much anticipated item and then stuffing it back to be returned five minutes later.…

Nostalgic Family Time

November 25, 2012 with 15 comments

Many of you who have read some of my older articles know that I was introduced to James Bond through my father. My father was a busy entrepreneur who was not the throw the ball in the backyard type Dad. Dont get me wrong; he loved his kids and we had an amazing relationship. But our moments together seemed just that…moments.

That all being said, some of the most indelible moments was when we would watch a James Bond film together. He would have me watch on those ABC late night movies, letting me stay up way past my bed time because after all, it was Bond…James Bond.…

Keep Calm and Never Grow Up

November 21, 2012 with 7 comments

As the emails keep pouring in around the concentrating and thinning of my Bond collection, one email truly made me pause. It was from a gentleman overseas who was dismayed by my decision. He explained that he is from a war torn country where internet is spotty at best but when it is clear, he enjoys watching the Bond lifestyle videos and Remmerts page.

He was extremely excited about the launch of The Bond Experience and often visited it multiple times a day, not just to check for new content but to also make sure that he saw that there were others like him out there that enjoyed the passion around the Bond lifestyle.…

Overwhelming Response to My Sale

November 19, 2012 with 9 comments

As some of you know by now, in an attempt to thin out my collection to concentrate on Bond lifestyle products, I listed some things from my collection for sale. I posted here and on my Facebook as well as a few threads thinking I would get a few inquiries that I could take care of at my lunch break.

How foolishly mistaken I was.

To say I underestimated the response this would evoke is putting it mildly.

I have received nearly a thousand requests for the sales list; so many in fact that we had to take that blog down because I couldn’t keep up.…
